Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have First let me say I love vanilla scents . I have purchased and repurchased this scent time and time again. This candle smells so delicious. You can smell the cake note followed by buttery rich vanilla frosting. Both the cake and the frosting are in perfect balance neither scent overpowers the other. It's such a warm , comforting happy fragrance .Those colorful , perfectly decorated cupcakes on the label make me smile . The throw on this candle is very good and it burns well too. Yankee please don't ever discontinue this candle !

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not 'Cupcake' When I got this candle via mail there were odd streaks inside the jar- like a bit of chocolate syrup got stuck inside during the filling process. Weird. Anyways, I burned this for about 2 hours before realizing it would never smell like cupcakes. It has a very faint floral note to it that makes it less gourmand. I'm not a huge fan. I did get a slight vanilla smell- but it wasn't strong enough to win me over. I'll be exchanging this one. Not sure if it was a bad one- but I think I'll stick to Buttercream.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm, inviting scent for year-round use. I've been burning this over the weekends this summer and have enjoyed it from top to bottom. The scent fills the room. It is helping me diet by avoiding real vanilla cupcakes and enjoy them vicariously through the candle! The wax is beautiful - it almost has a sparkly appearance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a cake I would want to have and eat, too I am not surprised that I ended up not loving this scent. When I sniffed it in the store I expected to hate it, but actually enjoyed it on cold sniff. I am usually not a big vanilla person, so I was hesitant purchasing this, but there was something a little different from the straight vanilla scents about this one. However, it did prove to be too much vanilla and sugary sweetness when I got it home and lit it. I can see why this would be a calming candle to some, but for me it was too much sweet. I like a little more combination in my candles (sweet and spicy), so I ultimately ended up exchanging this. The throw on this was not as strong as I was expecting, either, so for those who like the scent but think it would be overpowering, don't worry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delicious scent but weak throw This candle has an amazing scent. My favorite kind of scents are those with vanilla. I love vanilla and everything baked with vanilla. However this candle sometimes gave a good throw and sometimes a weak throw. Would I recommend this candle? Yes I would, but I think this scent would have a better throw in wax tarts form.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delicious Smell, Could Be Stronger Picked up 6 of these during the YankeeCandle buy one, get two free sale, and we love the delicious smell of the vanilla cupcake. If I had one request, it would be that the smell was a little stronger. I feel we had to have multiple ones burning in our moderately sized living room to really be enveloped by the scent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smells completely different as a wax melt My mother has this scent in the wax melt form, and I fell in love with it. But being as though I don’t have a wax warmer, I bought a candle instead. I was unfortunately very disappointed when I lit it and let it burn for more than an hour, instead of smelling a sweet vanilla cupcake all I smelt was an overwhelming scent of candle wax. I’m pregnant so I thought it was just my sensitive nose so I asked my mother, sister, and cousin each to come into my room separately and tell me what they smelled and they all said there’s no vanilla cupcake scent, only candle wax. I promptly took it to my nearest yankee candle store and exchanged it for the “holiday lights scent” and was very satisfied. I do not recommend this scent.
