Poor Throw
I'm surprised how many people have provided positive reviews for this candle. I bought it in the large jar (2 for £27) just before Christmas but had problems with both the burn and the throw, with tunnelling despite burning for a minimum of 5 and a half hours. Looks good, attractive label and wax colour but frangrance disappointing. I get the coconut on cold sniff but on burning, I get only vanilla and a cheap-smelling vanilla at that. On a positive note, I had no problem in getting a full refund at the Yankee Candle Store so I replaced this with Midnight Jasmine.

Gorgeous Scent!
My family all like this Yankee scent , l have enjoyed it in large and medium jars since it was introduced.
It has a great fragrance throw, but is not overpowering at all. It is a sensual mix of smooth creamy coconut, woody notes and a base of musk. It's a scent that l find relaxing and comforting. I like the dark wax colour with its noticeable layers of oils. I even like the label on this candle, l usually turn the labels to the back as l like a plain look to my candles with my accessories.

Very disappointed
I bought this candle just before Christmas and was looking forward to lighting it after reading all the positive reviews. It has hardly any scent or throw.
I'm very disappointed as I've had quite a few other large jar candles and loved all the others.

Amazing scent
Black Coconut is an ultimate favourite fragrance of mine. On cold sniff it is divine and I can enjoy this fragrance by just removing the lid and letting the scent fill the room. On lighting the candle I encounter a number of different issues, firstly the fragrance throw is quite low which is disappointing. I've had this in medium and large jars and find that the medium jars have had more throw than the large jars which is very strange. The other main issue I have had with jars of Black Coconut is sooting, I trim the wick and keep it short, I use illuma lids and ensure that any soot is removed prior to re-lighting, however every burn produces a worrying amount of soot which will be spreading around the rooms I use this in. However, I can recommend the fragrance for any room in the house, particular favourites are the living room and bathroom for relaxation. I hope this fragrance remains available forever as it is certainly one my ultimate fragrances.

Lovely Dark Paradise
I bought this candle just yesterday and it's already a new favourite in my home!
However, it all depends on what smell you prefer. I've used the similiar Coconut Bay in the past but I definitely prefer this one as it is much richer and less intense. It's still got sweet notes but is more subtle, almost like a toasted coconut, and it's mixed with cedarwood to give it an earthy, woody aroma.
Personally I think this is better because Coconut Bay can sometimes give you a headache after burning for too long.
It's very relaxing and is a great addition to the bathroom.
I definitely recommend!

Disappointing
I was really excited to try this candle, I took a risk and ordered it without smelling as I love coconut. Was expecting it to smell like holidays in the sun. It does smell nice but it's so mild that I can barely smell it. It just sits in my lounge unused now as it's not worth lighting. Will go back to my favourite Salted Caramel (which scents my entire house unlit!).
